Cult favorite filmmaker Trent Harris will be in attendance for a screening of his classic Beaver Trilogy followed by the Philadelphia Premiere of its new accompanying documentary.  And if that wasn’t enough, feel free to hang out afterwards for a late night screening of another Trent Harris/Crispin Glover classic, Ruben and Ed!

beaverkid-smA chance encounter in a parking lot in 1979 led to Harris’ obsession with Beaver, Utah-based Olivia Newton-John impersonator Groovin’ Gary.  Harris documented Gary’s performance at a local talent show and later returned to the footage for two reenactments:  the first in 1981 starring Sean Penn, the second in 1985 starring Crispin Glover.  The results are heartfelt, bizarre, and truly unforgettable.  2015 Sundance selection The Beaver Trilogy Part IV takes viewers behind the trilogy and into the real lives of the people involved with narration by Bill Hader.

Ruben and Ed concerns an eccentric young man (Crispin Glover) and a pyramid scheme salesman (Howard Hesseman) who wander the Utah desert looking for a suitable place to bury a frozen cat.  Glover’s legendary appearance on the David Letterman show was a result of his appearing in character as the titular Rubin.
